The area of Wessynton, 9 miles south of Old Town Alexandria, is next door to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens and as such is steeped in history. There are just over 150 houses in the community and they are characterized by their modern style, which differs from many of the homes in other parts of Mount Vernon. Wessynton‘s expansive residences were primarily built in the sixties from a mixture of stone, brick and wood materials.
